Responsibilities / Human Avatar Compositing. 360 Stitch fixes.
INITION partnered with the Road Safety Authority in Ireland (RSA) and their agency BBDO, to create an immersive experience that brings to life the consequences of drink-driving.
The challenge was to create a hard-hitting campaign, that would impact this audience and make them think twice before driving whilst intoxicated.
Virtual Reality was chosen for it's immersive properties. The aim was to develop a series of scenarios that showcase the damaging effects of drink-driving. The combination of creative content and immersive technology was designed to create an experience that would get under the user’s skin, without patronising.
The VR stories were filmed in 360, using 3D binaural audio creating a highly realistic experience. We gave users a choice in the film, so they could then live the consequences of those choices. This was delivered on Oculus Rift, with versions created for Oculus GO and YouTube 360 to reach the widest possible audience.
I was responsible for keying out the filmed human avatars, and compositing them into the stereoscopic 360 shots, in a believable manner, so that when viewed in a headset, the user felt that they were looking down at their own body, increasing the level of immersion and their involvement in the story line.
Before and after the viewers body has been added.
Full 360 frames from 4 of the 6 shots.
